Photos from a trip to the Chillon Castle, located on Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Chillon Castle is 3 km from Montreux. The complex was intended to protect the trade routes along the eastern shore of Lake Geneva and was built in the 9th century; by the end of the 16th century the castle was converted into a prison, and the monk reformer Francois Bonivard was the most famous prisoner of the castle.

In 1816, Byron visited the castle and left his name on the pole to which he thought was chained monk, now this autograph - the main attraction of the castle. Chillon also becomes the scene of the works of Dumas, Shelley and Victor Hugo. You can get to the castle from Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux and many ski resorts.
